Synopsis[]
Bashful enrolls in Knight School to win the Queen’s attention back from a charming, dragon-fighting knight.[2]
Plot[]
The citizens of Jollywood gather around the village center to witness the arrival of a traveling noble knight. Sir Charms-A-Lot catches the attention of Queen Delightful. A dragon then appeared and ready to fight the knight. Sir Charms-A-Lot successfully fights the dragon and the dragon retreats; the villagers celebrated, though Grumpy has doubts about this—he thinks it was staged. Delightful then swooned over the knight once and again twice, making Bashful concerned. He wonders if he can make the Queen swoon three times, then he decides to become a knight in training. Grumpy decides to come along with him too, but only because the school offers an all-you-can-eat buffet.
At Knight School, the new recruits are met by a gung-ho instructor, Sir Burgess of Meredith. As training begins, Bashful attempts to joust, but ends up getting injured while Grumpy enjoy his food perks. However, Bashful gains the skill of playing a lute as well as being gentlemanly toward ladies as part of his training. While all of this is going on, at Queen Delightful's castle Sir Charms-A-Lot is allowed to stay. He soon overstays his welcome as his supposed charm that won Delightful over is fading away and increasing body odor.
Back at Knight School, Bashful continues to have injuries each time he faces an opponent and is ready to pack it in. Grumpy offers him a pep talk and wants him to continue his dream by doing something he's good at. Later, Bashful faces his final opponent, Sir Burgess, and he successfully beats him by hiding. Bashful is officially knighted as Sir Bashful, Knight of the Go-Seekery; and Grumpy as Sir Grumpy, Knight of the All-You-Can-Eatery. Sir Charms-A-Lot is revealed to be an actor, and the dragon he "fought" earlier was all part of the plan to win Delightful's affections. But Charms-A-Lot refused to pay the dragon.
Sir Bashful and Sir Grumpy arrive at the castle and presented Delightful with their knighthood certificates. Bashful then offers her a seat, which she happily obliged. The dragon reappears along his brother to confront Sir Charms-A-Lot; their flames exposed him as a dwarf on stilts, and he runs away quickly. However, the dragons continued to pose as a threat to everyone else, and Bashful has his friends to find a safe place. He then tricked the dragons through camouflage standing next to a stained glass window, and he plays a flute to soothe them and tells them to go away. With his friends celebrating, Sir Bashful has Queen Delightful swoon three times, and as a reward she gives him a kiss on his forehead. Bashful also swoon three times, then faints. Thus, ending the episode with the 7D remarking "Nighty night knight."
Running Gags[]
- Queen Delightful going bonkers for Sir Charms-A-Lot.
- Sir Charms-A-Lot mentioning his "defeat the dragon" routine.
- Grumpy eating in Sir Burgess's class.
- Bashful constantly getting injured during the jousting matches (except for the last one).
- Sir Burgess screaming nonsense gibberish whenever he says something out of the knight vocabulary.
Continuity[]
- This episode marks the second time the Queen kisses Bashful, the first being "Bathtub Bashful" and the third being "The Jollywood Games".
- It is also the second episode where one of them kisses the other, the third being "The 7D and the Beast" where Bashful kisses the Queen from her sleep, and the fourth being "The Jollywood Games" where the Queen kisses Bashful on the lips.
- This is the sixth episode to have Bashful faint ("The Big Bash", "The Fairest in the Land", "Bathtub Bashful", "7 Frogs", and "Big Rock Candy Flim-Flam").
Trivia[]
- Before the title of the episode was announced along with "When Pigs Fly", Tom Ruegger revealed that the second season premiere would premiere in mid January 2016.[3]
- Disney Channel Asia first premiered "In Yer Dreams, Pal" and "The Great Glitterpillar" on March 12, 2016 before this and its sister episode, which premiered March 19, 2016.
Goofs[]
- When Charms-A-Lot mentioned that he might stay in Jollywood, Doc's glasses were transparent.
- When Sir Burgess offered a lady a seat during his teaching instruction, some ineligible handwritten words appeared in several frames on the right side of the bottom of the screen. It is possible that they come from a storyboard that somehow made it into the final animation.
