"Mirror, Mirror" is an episode that premiered July 9, 2014 with "The Big Bash" on Disney XD.[2]

It is the fifth episode in the series.

Synopsis[]

When Queen Delightful's beloved Magic Mirror goes missing and is replaced with an impostor, it's up to The 7D to convince the Not-So-Magic-Mirror to help them track down the culprits responsible.

Guest Stars[]

  • Wallace Shawn ("The Princess Bride") as the Not-So-Magic-Mirror.
  • Whoopi Goldberg recurs as the Magic Mirror.[3]

Plot[]

The episode begins with The 7D outside their cottage and Queen Delightful at her castle performing morning exercise routines. The Glooms watch the queen through their Crystal Ball. The Magic declares Queen Delightful as the fairest in all of Jollywood, which infuriates Hildy. She wants to be the fairest, so she sends Grim to get her a magic of her own. Grim patrons a shop that sell magic mirrors. The salesman is so quick to gave one away to Grim, suggesting that the outgoing is driving him crazy.

Grim returns home and surprises Hildy with the mirror. Hildy asks the who's the fairest in the land, and the Not-So-Magic-Mirror says that she's nowhere on his list, and declares that Delightful is still the fairest. Hildy angrily orders Grim to break in the castle and steal the Queen's Magic at night. Back at the Glooms' manor, Hildy is excited that she now has the Queen's Magic Mirror. Yet again, the Magic still knows that Delightful is at the top as the fairest.

The next morning, Queen Delightful is about to have her morning exercise when she notices that something's odd about the mirror. The Not-So-Magic-Mirror is there, taking the Magic Mirror's place. Lord Starchbottom picked up a note that Grim inexplicably left behind (and a hole on the roof with a ladder leading to it), detailing the crime. Queen Delightful sounds the Bing-Bong Bell to summon The 7D, and they appear inside a treasure chest. Then, Grumpy demands the No-So-Magic-Mirror to tell them who stole the Magic Mirror and he refused to answer at first, but after Dopey sprays him with water, he finally admits that it was the Glooms (he was not to tell under orders from the Glooms).

Happy goes over to the Glooms, knocks on their door and asks them to give him the Magic Mirror. The welcome mat he stood on ejects him all the way back to the castle. Hildy then magically grow huge thorns to surround their house for protection. The dwarfs resorts to digging underground to the Glooms' manor, but they stop at the wrong locations several times along the way because Doc had read Dopey's map upside down. Finally, they've reach the Glooms and, as the villains sleep, they quietly rescue the Magic Mirror. Suddenly, several housewares shatter, which woke up Grim and Hildy. Hildy casts a spell to turn The 7D into slugs, but the spell reflects off the Magic and it hit Grim and Hildy, becoming slugs themselves. The Magic Mirror then remarks that Hildy is the most beautiful slug in all of Jollywood.

The 7D returns the Magic Mirror to the castle. Starchy is about to move the Not-So-Magic-Mirror out of the castle, but the Magic Mirror catches the other's eye and they begin to fall in love. The episode ends with The 7D removing a bucket off Grumpy's head he had acquired at the Glooms.

Cultural References[]

Evil queen's chest in 1937 snow white film
  • The chest, with an image of a heart being stabbed with a dagger, in the Glooms' bedroom bears resemblance to the one used by the Evil Queen in Disney's Snow White (below). In the movie, she reserved it for the heart of Snow White. The chest reappeared in "Which Witch is Which?", when Hildy used it to store her duplicating wand.
  • Hildy makes a reference to the 1992 film "Sister Act" by saying "Sorry, sister, but your act has been replaced!" to Magic Mirror who is voiced by Whoopi Goldberg, who was the main role of the film.

Goofs[]

During the opening scene, Bashful is seen exercising next to a barrel near Grumpy. As the camera pans towards Delightful's castle, Bashful isn't there.
