Synopsis[]
When the Queen decides to hire a Court Jester, the Glooms suggest their witty Crystal Ball.
Plot[]
The episode starts with Lord Starchbottom dusting the Hubba Hubba Headpiece while humming the 7D theme. It then appears on the Crystal Ball, and it inspires Hildy to swipe it in an another attempt to take over Jollywood. Meanwhile, Lord Starchbottom is seen singlehandedly taking care of all of the castle duties, from announcing guests to cooking meals to even being the Queen's court jester. While performing his court jester job, he collapses from exhaustion, urging Queen Delightful to hire him some extra help.
The next day, she calls for the 7D and asks for their help with looking for new staff. They put up help wanted posters all over Jollywood, including on people and animals. Upon discovering the help wanted posters covering Peaches, Hildy conjures up a plan to get inside the castle to steal the Hubba Hubba Headpiece by disguising herself and Grim to apply for the needed jobs. Their first attempt at applying for the first job, the royal trumpeters, fails immediately the moment they arrive at the castle as the position has already been taken by Pomp and Circumstance. As instructed by Lord Starchbottom, Pomp and Circumstance announce all the important things around the castle and blow their trumpets loudly into Starchbottom's ears. This quickly drives Lord Starchbottom crazy as they announce everything, including any miniscule action as simple as taking a sip of tea.
The Glooms try to apply again for the next job, the royal chef, but once again they're too late as a chef has already been hired. The new chef, Chef Stewie, is a personal friend of Grumpy who goes on to boast about Chef Stewie's ability to make anything. They are then served the first dish, hot stew, as announced by the new trumpeters. Impressed with the lunch, Starchbottom looks forward to dinner, but is immediately disappointed to see hot stew being served again. And throughout the next couple of meals, they are served various forms of dishes all made out of stew. Turns out Chef Stewie really can make anything -- out of stew. Fed up with eating stew and his new staff's general incompetence, Lord Starchbottom decides to take charge of the hiring process of the final job, the court jester.
The Glooms final attempt at getting into the castle is inspired by the Crystal Ball's comedic abilities, so Grim and Crystal Ball disguise themselves as one person with the ball on top,"Teeny Head", and Hildy acts as his manager, "Mandy Make-it-Happen". As Teeny Head goes into the audition, Hildy sneaks into the treasure room and swipes the Hubba Hubba Headpiece. The Crystal Ball manages to crack everyone up, except Lord Starchbottom, who is unamused with his jokes while also claiming to be "not an easy laugh". And after Starchbottom sends him away so that they can judge him, Starchy grows skeptical over the legitimacy of Teeny Head. The Crystal Ball grows fond of the idea of getting the job of court jester, but a protesting Hildy gives the Hubba Hubba Headpiece to Grim and tries to rush them out of the castle.
Starchy then confronts Teeny Head to inform him that he didn't get the job because he wasn't funny to him. Outraged, the Crystal Ball whips up his best jokes, aiming to get Starchbottom to laugh, meanwhile Queen Delightful and the 7D rush in to watch the show. Once again, everyone except Lord Starchbottom laughs, even Grim is barely able to hold in his giggles until he too bursts out into laughter, causing him to drop the Hubba Hubba Headpiece and ruin his disguise.
The Glooms are discovered but they run out of the castle before the 7D is able to get them. Queen Delightful, grateful for Starchbottom and his unintentional lacking sense of humour, grants his wish of getting rid of the new staff with recommendation letters. The bothersome staff soon move into the Glooms' house, amusing Grim but infuriating Hildy.
