"The Enchanted Shoes" is an episode that premiered on November 16, 2014 with "Hildyrella" on Disney XD.[2] Before it was officially announced, it was confirmed by Shea Fontana on her website.[3] The premiere of this episode and "Hildyrella" doesn't air in its entirety (see trivia below).

It is the thirty-first episode in the series.

Synopsis[]

Grim and Hildy disguise themselves as cobblers and cast a shoe spell on the villagers of Jollywood to run them all out of town.

Guest Star[]

Plot[]

The episode opens with Grumpy driving their jewel mine cart into town along with Dopey with their feet. Grumpy noticed his shoes are making flatulent noises, and he goes to his friend and cobbler Cobby for repairs. While on the way Grumpy notices a huge crowd of people (including the rest of the the 7D, Queen Delightful, Sir Yipsalot, and Lord Starchbottom) lining up at a new shoe store that is just opened for business. He meets Cobby, who fixed his squeaky shoes with drops of oil. They both then went to the new shoe store that's taking Cobby's regular customers and saw that the new, sleek shoes are making them run fast. After they each got themselves a pair from the two new cobblers, they peeked at the window and saw that the new cobblers are actually Grim and Hildy. Their plan is to make run everyone out of Jollywood by selling them those enchanted shoes, and the spell itself is making them run nonstop.

Later, the Glooms took control of Queen Delightful's castle. Grim points out to Hildy that they have no one to rule over, so they invited their goblin friends to a party and are required to bring presents; however, the real reason is to force the goblins into labor at The 7D's soon-to-be abandoned mine. Meanwhile, the rest of The 7D, Starchbottom, Delightful, and Sir Yipsalot with the rest of the villagers continued to run; Bashful thinks that the shoes have a spell on them, making Doc suspicious. Scores of goblins are passing through the village on their way to the castle as Cobby and Grumpy are working on a plan to defeat the Glooms. Two goblins show up at Cobby's shop, and Grumpy engages them in a conversation speaking the goblin language. While speaking the language, Grumpy told them to bring fish sticks to Hildy's party, which she hates.

Grumpy and Cobby arrive at the castle posing as goblins with two boxes. The boxes then reached the Glooms, and out of the boxes are two pairs of shoes that they gave Cobby and Grumpy earlier. After they put them on, they began to run rapidly to the point of exhaustion that they called off the spell. The spell's cancellation finally made the villagers stopped running and saving The 7D and their friends from running off a cliff. Grumpy recanted the events to everyone, and his plans caused a revolt against the Glooms by the goblins after Hildy rejected their presents filled with fish sticks and their eventual labor at the mine. In the end, the Glooms leave the castle, and Cobby got his customers back by replacing their enchanted shoes.

Continuity[]

  • The fact that goblins like fish sticks as their favorite food is later used as a question in "Finders Keepers" when Finders Keeper asked that question during the quiz and Grim's answer was fish peas.

Trivia[]

  • This episode reunited both Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen who were known as the voices of both Pinky and The Brain from Animaniacs.
  • Along with "Hildyrella", the half-hour premiere was not shown in its entirety during its premiere broadcast. The last minute of each episode was interrupted by commercials, only to return at the same scene when it returned from the breaks. After the final break during "Hildyrella," the episode itself reduces to a box where Disney XD runs the end credits for its shows for a few seconds before it started airing Phineas and Ferb. The ending of "Hildyrella" first aired on November 18, 2014.
    • A similar thing was reported to have happened with a Doraemon rerun the previous morning, whereas it flashed the last few seconds of the first episode after the commercial break in a creepy manner.
  • Grumpy mentioned that he had been in the dwarf school, meaning that all of the 7D have graduated and now work as miners.

Cultural References[]

  • At their shoe shop, the Glooms were shown wearing black and white striped shirts, a reference to the uniforms worn by real-life employees of the shoe store chain Foot Locker.

Goofs[]

  • Continuity Error: In "Finders Keepers", Grim didn't know what the goblins' favorite food is (which is fish sticks), although in this episode, Grim said himself that all goblins eat fish sticks. This is possible that this episode takes place after "Finders Keepers" that he has a knowledge there on what goblins eat.
