Synopsis[]
The Glooms cast a spell on Queen Delightful to turn her into a troll to ensure Hildy's victory as "Fairest in the Land" at the annual Jolly Awards.
Guest Star[]
- Whoopi Goldberg in the recurring role of Magic Mirror.
Plot[]
Right down the Jollywood hills at the Jollywood Bowl, is Happy announcing the biggest award show, the Jollies, where everyone goes home a winner. Within the announcement, Happy shows a man who has the funniest mustache and the biggest shoe. Also, Happy announces Doc's latest invention: the two-way, I-Can-Hear-You-Talk-To-Me-Stringy-Tin-Can-Thingy; and of course, award for the fairest in the land which is given to Queen Delightful every single year before. Furthermore, Happy also shows the prize for the winner of the fairest, a Jollywood Gemstone Wand. Seeing the beyond gorgeous gemstone wand, Hildy tries to find a way to get it, by asking for Grim's idea, the Glooms have finally come up with one: making Queen Delightful less fair.
So as to make it, the Glooms come to the castle and give the queen a makeover for the Jollies tonight; however, that makeover is a spell cast to make Delightful uglier. As Queen Delightful finishes her new look by cleaning her face with a towel, she is seen like a bad ugly piggy face. Squire Peckington as well as Sir Yipsalot and Lord Starchbottom gets shocked by her new look. Starchy has no choice but calling the 7D and asking for help. After seeing Queen Delightful, the 7D are speechless, besides Bashful who is fainted by Delightful's new look. The 7D can't let the queen go to the award show with her ugly face so they decide to suit her up a diving suit, which can cover her face.
As the Jollies award cups are given to every single prize-winning citizen in Jollywood, the show finally announces the person who wins in the category "The Fairest in the Land". Hildy thinks that Queen's new face has made her lose the award and comes down to the stage to get the prize. However, the Magic Mirror announces that Queen Delightful still wins the prize. Disagreeing, Hildy removes Queen's diving mask and the Queen is seen by all. After reconsidering about the winning person for this category, the Magic Mirror still says that Delightful is the winner, because despite the Queen's hard-to-look-at face, she has a heart which is definitely the fairest in the land. The Jollywood Gemstone Wand is given to the Queen and magically turns her back to normal. Hildy quickly steals the wand but she is turned into a huge and bad-looking monster, she quits and takes Grim back to their lair and waits for another day.
Featured Songs[]
Running Gags[]
- Characters getting frightened by Queen Delightful's ugliness. This is similar to the running gag in "Water Ya Doin', Dopey?", except it is both the Queen and Hildy and their old-looking appearances.
Continuity[]
- This episode marks the second time Bashful faints. The first was "The Big Bash" twice after hearing Queen Delightful's name. The third was in "Bathtub Bashful" when Queen Delightful kisses him with her fingers on his hat.
- Old Woman and her children make their first appearance in this episode. They later had major roles in the next episode "New Shoe".
Trivia[]
- The concept was based on a sketch (right) showing Delightful as a troll.[3]
- Moral: Having a beautiful face does not mean you're the fairest in the land./True beauty is shown inside, then out.
Cultural References[]
- During the "It's the Jolly Awards" music sequence, a look-alike of Elsa from the 2013 Disney film Frozen is seen.
